As local, state and federal governments began implementing measures to protect our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, QEP Resources took quick action to ensure the health and safety of our employees and contractors to contain the outbreak. We also reached out to our community stakeholders to understand their needs and align our resources and response to make the greatest impact.
Safeguarding Health & Safety
As a company committed to health and safety and consistent with QEP’s values (Respectful, Resourceful and Responsible), we believe it’s critical to help flatten the curve of the virus and to protect our employees, contractors and their families from potential exposure to COVID-19. Prior to government orders, our offices in Denver, North Dakota and Texas went remote and began social distancing practices in locations with essential employees.
Supporting Our Communities
Food Security and Health & Wellness have become increasingly difficult for the elderly, for those with underlying health conditions, the unemployed and for the millions of children and families who are losing access to free or low-cost meals and other resources due to school closures. QEP has made contributions of $15,000 and $10,000, respectively to support our American Red Cross local chapters and Meals on Wheels America in their efforts during this time.
Our employee-led QEP Cares Leadership Councils have identified areas in our communities in critical need and have made local contributions totaling $35,000 for COVID-19 relief. Our local Councils continue to work closely with our community partners in Colorado, North Dakota and Texas to provide support as the situation develops.
In the Permian Basin, we donated $20,000 from the QEP Charitable Endowment fund with the Permian Basin Area Foundation to support their Emergency Relief Fund. Donations to this Fund will be used to quickly deploy grants to nonprofit organizations addressing immediate needs of the COVID-19 crisis.
In North Dakota, we have donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to local hospitals and fire departments.
Matching Gifts Campaign & Virtual Volunteering
We have provided options for our employees to donate and receive company matches for non-profits assisting with COVID-19 needs and options to volunteer with non-profits remotely. While our employees practice social distancing, they have connected with isolated seniors, given blood, purchased school supplies for classrooms and sent thank you cards to frontline staff in our communities.
We Are in This Together
As we face a combination of challenges in our industry, we are working to do our part to ensure the health and safety of our employees and contractors, and we continue to make community investment a cornerstone of our culture model ”How We Work Together”. Our thoughts are with those affected by COVID-19 and the frontline professionals working around the clock to help those most in need.
