Overview

The Uinta Basin in northeastern Utah produces oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids across a broad stratigraphic interval. The largest oil field is Altamont-Bluebell located in the deepest part of the basin. Current industry activity is mainly focused on the oil reservoirs in the Green River Formation and the natural gas and natural gas liquids reservoirs in the Mesaverde Formation. Current development includes both horizontal and vertical drilling with multi-stage hydraulically fractured completions.

QEP Resources holds more than 250,000 net acres in the Uinta Basin, including 110,300 targeting the Lower Mesaverde Formation. In the Red Wash unit, we have focused on the Lower Mesaverde Formation to utilize new drilling and completion techniques, both in vertical and horizontal wellbores, that could economically capture the multiple trillions of cubic feet of natural gas and associated liquids across our acreage.
